From the reviews
I have been regularly going to Body Alive for about 13 years now. While the classes have always been so very energetic and fun, and the staff is always so kind, I must say that the current staff and instructors are the most energetic and kindest yet.
Body Alive Kenwood is my refuge from the busy world. Here I can nurture my mind and body with likeminded people from all over the tristate area. The instructors are educated and talented and the facility is extremely well maintained. If you are a beginner looking to try something new, everyone is welcoming.
I just finished a 45-minute hot Pilates session here and it was fantastic. As a male, I really appreciated the welcoming and inclusive atmosphere—it's great to find a studio that is so accepting and encouraging for everyone. The facility is impressively clean, which is a huge plus for a heated workout.
My wife and I the best workout at Body Alive in Kenwood! Ellie was our instructor! She was so uplifting and the music matched her energy! This was our first time at Body Alive and our first Hot Pilates class! We got a great sweat in and decided we will be getting a membership based on our experience today!
Teacher training at Body Alive Kenwood
Body Alive Kenwood comes up for teacher training — confirmed on their own site. If you're thinking about becoming an instructor, a few things are worth asking up front. First, which certification the program leads to — most hot-yoga trainings are Yoga Alliance registered (RYT-200 or RYT-500), and the style matters: a Bikram or hot-power lineage trains differently than a hot-vinyasa or sculpt one. Second, the schedule and prerequisites — cohorts often run in intensive weekend blocks or over several months, and many studios want you practicing regularly there first. Third, cost and payment plans, and whether tuition includes an unlimited membership for the training period. Teacher training is a real commitment of time and money, so it's worth a call or an info session before you enroll.
Your first hot yoga class at Body Alive Kenwood
Nervous about your first hot class? Almost everyone is, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: the room is heated, so it feels intense for the first few minutes — rest in child's pose any time you need to, no one will bat an eye. Hydrate: drink water through the day before class, not just as you arrive, and bring a bottle. What to bring: a mat and towel, water, and a change of clothes — there are showers on site; wear something light you don't mind sweating through, and skip a heavy meal in the couple of hours beforehand. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and set up. It gets easier fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
