From the reviews
I am visiting Las Cruces for a month and I joined this yoga studio with the unlimited one month pass. I loved the experience! I do 2-3 classes per day — yoga, Pilates, yin yoga, tai chi, I did it all! What I like is the mix of styles.
This yoga studio is far and away the best studio I’ve ever been to. Every time I’ve come here I’ve felt comfortable and relaxed— all due to the exceptional job the instructors here do. They make everyone feel at home here. There is also a lot to be said for the variety of classes and time frames they offer.
This is a great studio with awesome instructors. They have a class for all levels of practice. The studio provides yoga mats for those who do not have one and also have towels that you can grab to wipe down. I highly recommend this studio if your looking to get into yoga or even if your returning to your practice.
I absolutely enjoy coming to Downtown Desert Yoga to participate in the Hot Yoga Classes. I go in the evenings and the days I go every morning that is the first thing on my mind. It is a class that relaxes the mind, body, and spirit.
Teacher training at Downtown Desert Yoga
Downtown Desert Yoga comes up for teacher training — confirmed on their own site. If you're thinking about becoming an instructor, a few things are worth asking up front. First, which certification the program leads to — most hot-yoga trainings are Yoga Alliance registered (RYT-200 or RYT-500), and the style matters: a Bikram or hot-power lineage trains differently than a hot-vinyasa or sculpt one. Second, the schedule and prerequisites — cohorts often run in intensive weekend blocks or over several months, and many studios want you practicing regularly there first. Third, cost and payment plans, and whether tuition includes an unlimited membership for the training period. Teacher training is a real commitment of time and money, so it's worth a call or an info session before you enroll.
Your first hot yoga class at Downtown Desert Yoga
Nervous about your first hot class? Almost everyone is, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: the room is heated, so it feels intense for the first few minutes — rest in child's pose any time you need to, no one will bat an eye. Hydrate: drink water through the day before class, not just as you arrive, and bring a bottle. What to bring: a mat and towel, water, and a change of clothes; wear something light you don't mind sweating through, and skip a heavy meal in the couple of hours beforehand. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and set up. It gets easier fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
