From the reviews
Anya is the best teacher! She is enthusiastic, encouraging, and very knowledgeable! She also is wonderful with modifications based on your personal needs but knows when to push you so you get the best out of your practice. This is exactly what I’ve been needing as a busy mom of three little ones!
I have tried regular yoga before and decided to try hot yoga. Some of the poses were quite challenging for me, but Anya was encouraging and let me know to just do my best. The heat was not as bad as I imagined it would be (I generally don't like temps above 80). She uses infrared heaters that give a more gentle heat.
I am so happy I decided to try a class at Hot Yoga Joy! It has been years since I’ve taken a formal class and I have never done hot yoga before. Anya is a fantastic instructor. She creates a safe, welcoming environment for people of all levels of experience.
Seriously the most fun I have ever had doing yoga! Challenging but not so hard that a beginner can’t do it. It’s great that the instructor gives you ways to push yourself if you are at a higher level but makes you feel great if you are not there yet.
Your first hot yoga class at Hot Yoga Joy of Lake Stevens
Nervous about your first hot class? Almost everyone is, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: the room is heated, so it feels intense for the first few minutes — rest in child's pose any time you need to, no one will bat an eye. Hydrate: drink water through the day before class, not just as you arrive, and bring a bottle. What to bring: a mat and towel, water, and a change of clothes; wear something light you don't mind sweating through, and skip a heavy meal in the couple of hours beforehand. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and set up. It gets easier fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
