From the reviews
I love this yoga studio!! I’ve tried a lot of studios in Philadelphia and HPY is definitely my favorite!
Took my first class here this morning. Teacher that was supposed to substitute was a no sho, so another teacher swooped into the rescue and taught a phenomenal flow with lots of chair and eagle to really rinse out...in a good way. I needed that class after the week I've had.
HPY has to be the best hot Pilates and yoga studio in Philadelphia, and I say this as someone who’s in midst of a comprehensive Pilates teacher training. The space is beautiful and welcoming, impeccably clean, and welcoming.
Great instructors for every level of experience. Very attentive to the whole class. Good sized room with temperature control. Two rows of mats with mirrors in the front. Water fountain for bottles, bathroom, lockers, towels and mats with suggested(?) Fee.
Teacher training at HPY Philly - Hot Power Yoga & Pilates
HPY Philly - Hot Power Yoga & Pilates comes up for teacher training — confirmed on their own site. If you're thinking about becoming an instructor, a few things are worth asking up front. First, which certification the program leads to — most hot-yoga trainings are Yoga Alliance registered (RYT-200 or RYT-500), and the style matters: a Bikram or hot-power lineage trains differently than a hot-vinyasa or sculpt one. Second, the schedule and prerequisites — cohorts often run in intensive weekend blocks or over several months, and many studios want you practicing regularly there first. Third, cost and payment plans, and whether tuition includes an unlimited membership for the training period. Teacher training is a real commitment of time and money, so it's worth a call or an info session before you enroll.
Your first hot yoga class at HPY Philly - Hot Power Yoga & Pilates
Nervous about your first hot class? Almost everyone is, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: the room is heated, so it feels intense for the first few minutes — rest in child's pose any time you need to, no one will bat an eye. Hydrate: drink water through the day before class, not just as you arrive, and bring a bottle. What to bring: a mat and towel (or rent them here), water, and a change of clothes; wear something light you don't mind sweating through, and skip a heavy meal in the couple of hours beforehand. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and set up. It gets easier fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
