Okay, I’m about to get into this. I have basically never done yoga in my 23 years of living, but through these classes I have fallen in love. My quality of life has improved drastically since my first class.
I was passing through on a work trip, and tried out Hot Yoga with Donna. Donna was an amazing instructor, and makes you feel welcomed as soon as you walk in the door. She takes the time to make sure you're doing poses correctly, which is a great quality in an instructor.
As a hardcore yogi, I was worried about finding a yoga studio I’d be able to practice at when I came to Valdosta this past year. Luckily, my husband lives down the road from Sutherland Yoga. I’m happy I’ve found a home base to build my practice over while I’m in Valdosta.
Best studio in town! Very welcoming to all sizes, shapes and experience levels. The instructors are friendly and very helpful. I enjoyed all the classes I have attended, but hot yoga is my favorite. I am especially appreciative of the lightly padded flooring since I have issues with my knees and feet.
Your first hot yoga class at Sutherland Yoga Studio
Nervous about your first hot class? Almost everyone is, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: the room is heated, so it feels intense for the first few minutes — rest in child's pose any time you need to, no one will bat an eye. Hydrate: drink water through the day before class, not just as you arrive, and bring a bottle. What to bring: a mat and towel, water, and a change of clothes; wear something light you don't mind sweating through, and skip a heavy meal in the couple of hours beforehand. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and set up. It gets easier fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
