From the reviews
I hadn’t done yoga in a while, but on a friend’s recommendation, I decided to check out YO BK in Greenpoint—and I’m so glad I did. From start to finish, this place was a breath of fresh air. I took the Flow & Restore class, and it ended up being an incredibly inspiring experience.
My yoga studio for the last 2.5 years. Yo bk has incredibly friendly staff, knowledgeable and world class instructors, and the space is very clean and well setup!
Incredible seasoned wonderful instructors, impeccably kept, warm inviting environment…. What else could you ask for? I particularly love the teachers who take care to be aware of each student and their level, offering options for adjustments. The owner truly cares for her staff as well as the students and atmosphere.
One of my favorite places to escape to! Every instructor I’ve had has been wonderful and I look forward to classes every week— Sara’s class on Saturday mornings is one of my favorites! If you’re looking for a relaxing, welcoming place for power yoga and other yoga classes, definitely check out YOBK 💗
Teacher training at YO BK - Greenpoint
YO BK - Greenpoint comes up for teacher training — confirmed on their own site. If you're thinking about becoming an instructor, a few things are worth asking up front. First, which certification the program leads to — most hot-yoga trainings are Yoga Alliance registered (RYT-200 or RYT-500), and the style matters: a Bikram or hot-power lineage trains differently than a hot-vinyasa or sculpt one. Second, the schedule and prerequisites — cohorts often run in intensive weekend blocks or over several months, and many studios want you practicing regularly there first. Third, cost and payment plans, and whether tuition includes an unlimited membership for the training period. Teacher training is a real commitment of time and money, so it's worth a call or an info session before you enroll.
Your first hot yoga class at YO BK - Greenpoint
Nervous about your first hot class? Almost everyone is, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: the room is heated, so it feels intense for the first few minutes — rest in child's pose any time you need to, no one will bat an eye. Hydrate: drink water through the day before class, not just as you arrive, and bring a bottle. What to bring: a mat and towel, water, and a change of clothes; wear something light you don't mind sweating through, and skip a heavy meal in the couple of hours beforehand. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and set up. It gets easier fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
