From the reviews
I recently moved back to my hometown and was in search of a yoga studio. I did a quick search on Google maps and found this amazing studio. They currently have two weeks free for new students and I signed up immediately. I picked YBD Hot with Denise So and her class was beyond lovely.
In a market filled with gym yoga following a redundant corporate formula, Yoga by Degrees is a refreshing, and sometimes very hot, exception! The teachers at all 3 YBD locations are given the freedom to express themselves through the infinite practice of traditional yoga, and together with their students make this the…
Denise is the absolute best! Highly recommend any of her classes. I bought a Groupon to try a few classes back in November and I’ve been going ever since. The facility itself is super clean and comfortable.
Love it here! I've tried all the different classes and a few workshops. Instructors are welcoming, knowledgeable, and offer consistently with their own flair! I highly recommend trying them for a free week. That's what I did, then signed up for a membership! I've been going 3 - 4 times a week since January!
Teacher training at Yoga by Degrees
Yoga by Degrees comes up for teacher training — confirmed on their own site. If you're thinking about becoming an instructor, a few things are worth asking up front. First, which certification the program leads to — most hot-yoga trainings are Yoga Alliance registered (RYT-200 or RYT-500), and the style matters: a Bikram or hot-power lineage trains differently than a hot-vinyasa or sculpt one. Second, the schedule and prerequisites — cohorts often run in intensive weekend blocks or over several months, and many studios want you practicing regularly there first. Third, cost and payment plans, and whether tuition includes an unlimited membership for the training period. Teacher training is a real commitment of time and money, so it's worth a call or an info session before you enroll.
Your first hot yoga class at Yoga by Degrees
Nervous about your first hot class? Almost everyone is, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: the room is heated to around ~105°F, so it feels intense for the first few minutes — rest in child's pose any time you need to, no one will bat an eye. Hydrate: drink water through the day before class, not just as you arrive, and bring a bottle. What to bring: a mat and towel, water, and a change of clothes; wear something light you don't mind sweating through, and skip a heavy meal in the couple of hours beforehand. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and set up. It gets easier fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
