From the reviews
I really love this studio! I've been going to the Ahimsa Oak Park studio for more than a year, and have appreciated adding the Ahimsa Power Flow classes into my routine. The class style allows me to be in the present moment, get in a good sweat, and feel balanced and centered at the end.
I'm 48 and have never attended a yoga class. I have a larger body and have always been anxious that I wouldn't fit in. I came to a restorative yoga class with a friend who has been encouraging me for weeks to go with her. I'm so glad I did and I wish I hadn't waited so long!
My first time visiting the studio for a sound meditation and it was a nice experience. I checked in at the front desk and told the receptionist it was my first time there. She welcomed me and was nice enough to give me a tour. The space is clean. Jay was a great sound meditation instructor!
Ahimsa had been recommended to me by several fellow yoga teachers as the authentic Oak Park studio with quality instructors. My first experience reflected that and I was warmly welcomed from the start. The teacher provided a solidly cued and sequenced class.
Your first hot yoga class at Ahimsa Yoga Studio Oak Park
Nervous about your first hot class? Almost everyone is, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: the room is heated, so it feels intense for the first few minutes — rest in child's pose any time you need to, no one will bat an eye. Hydrate: drink water through the day before class, not just as you arrive, and bring a bottle. What to bring: a mat and towel, water, and a change of clothes; wear something light you don't mind sweating through, and skip a heavy meal in the couple of hours beforehand. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and set up. It gets easier fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
