From the reviews
I have known Joan for years now, mostly through virtual classes (since I live in NJ), but finally met her last summer at a retreat in Costa Rica. I was on the west coast for work last week, and was able to join a class at Center for Yoga. The space was beautiful and Joan is always a pleasure to see.
I really enjoy my prenatal class with Heather. It’s gentle and challenging at the same time depending on my mood. With her guidance, I really make sure that I do the right motion without hurting me or my baby. I highly recommend her class!
A Sum-Up: A beautiful evening of reconnecting to breath, body, practice, & community. The Vibe: Full-circle. Welcoming. Connected. What a treat to circle back & reconnect with a former teacher from yoga training. Yoga really is its own little community...
Joe’s Vinyasa Flow 2/3 class on Sundays is absolutely amazing—he’s my favorite teacher! This class has become my Sunday ritual and the perfect way to reset for the week ahead. Each session is both challenging and beautifully intentional, creating a flow that feels energizing, grounding, and deeply rewarding.
Teacher training at Center for Yoga
Center for Yoga comes up for teacher training — confirmed on their own site. If you're thinking about becoming an instructor, a few things are worth asking up front. First, which certification the program leads to — most hot-yoga trainings are Yoga Alliance registered (RYT-200 or RYT-500), and the style matters: a Bikram or hot-power lineage trains differently than a hot-vinyasa or sculpt one. Second, the schedule and prerequisites — cohorts often run in intensive weekend blocks or over several months, and many studios want you practicing regularly there first. Third, cost and payment plans, and whether tuition includes an unlimited membership for the training period. Teacher training is a real commitment of time and money, so it's worth a call or an info session before you enroll.
Your first hot yoga class at Center for Yoga
Nervous about your first hot class? Almost everyone is, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: the room is heated, so it feels intense for the first few minutes — rest in child's pose any time you need to, no one will bat an eye. Hydrate: drink water through the day before class, not just as you arrive, and bring a bottle. What to bring: a mat and towel, water, and a change of clothes; wear something light you don't mind sweating through, and skip a heavy meal in the couple of hours beforehand. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and set up. It gets easier fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
