From the reviews
So grateful to Briana Ward for keeping the doors of Chesapeake Hot Yoga (CHY) open through the pandemic, I’m sure it wasn’t easy, many studios have closed as a result. I’m so very fortunate to have the CHY community just 3.4 miles up the road.
Visiting family for a few days and luckily Brianna's 9 AM class worked out with our schedule. The place is easy to find, Clean, well, organized showers and all the props you need. Hot but not too hot. Love the fans. Super friendly and welcoming as well But my absolute favorite part was the class.
Clean and welcoming environment! I have done yoga for 10 years now and always hated hot yoga but CHY has completely changed that for me! I LOVE hot yoga now. Instructors are amazing and will provide great modifications to intensify or scale down the movements. And I love how there’s mirrors!
CHY has literally cured my back pains. All the yoga instructors are very knowledgeable and welcoming. Bri is the most amazing person you will ever meet and is very passionate about helping anyone who walks in. If you haven’t tried it do yourself a favor and take a class!
Teacher training at Chesapeake Hot Yoga
Chesapeake Hot Yoga comes up for teacher training — confirmed on their own site. If you're thinking about becoming an instructor, a few things are worth asking up front. First, which certification the program leads to — most hot-yoga trainings are Yoga Alliance registered (RYT-200 or RYT-500), and the style matters: a Bikram or hot-power lineage trains differently than a hot-vinyasa or sculpt one. Second, the schedule and prerequisites — cohorts often run in intensive weekend blocks or over several months, and many studios want you practicing regularly there first. Third, cost and payment plans, and whether tuition includes an unlimited membership for the training period. Teacher training is a real commitment of time and money, so it's worth a call or an info session before you enroll.
Your first hot yoga class at Chesapeake Hot Yoga
Nervous about your first hot class? Almost everyone is, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: the room is heated, so it feels intense for the first few minutes — rest in child's pose any time you need to, no one will bat an eye. Hydrate: drink water through the day before class, not just as you arrive, and bring a bottle. What to bring: a mat and towel, water, and a change of clothes; wear something light you don't mind sweating through, and skip a heavy meal in the couple of hours beforehand. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and set up. It gets easier fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
