From the reviews
After taking a break from attending in studio yoga classes in 2020/2021, I was thrilled to learn that this new yoga studio was opening about 7 minutes from my house. Even better, Alice Ahearn was opening it! I had attended classes of hers at another local studio and knew how wonderful of a yoga teacher she was/is!
Recommend this place to everyone!!! Alice and her teams are amazing. This is my first time learning yoga and feels amazing here. The studio is clean, beautiful, and warm with a heated floor.
I love practicing at Common Thread! Everything about the space is warm and welcoming. I really like that props and options for poses are encouraged and even planned into many of the classes to help each person get what they need out of the practice.
Such a beautiful space to practice. From the calming colors within the space, to the heated floors, the studio represents the owner (Alice) and her vision of a warm space. If you are just beginning your yoga journey, or if you’ve had a longer practice, you’ll find a class to suit your needs.
Teacher training at Common Thread Yoga and Wellness
Common Thread Yoga and Wellness comes up for teacher training — confirmed on their own site. If you're thinking about becoming an instructor, a few things are worth asking up front. First, which certification the program leads to — most hot-yoga trainings are Yoga Alliance registered (RYT-200 or RYT-500), and the style matters: a Bikram or hot-power lineage trains differently than a hot-vinyasa or sculpt one. Second, the schedule and prerequisites — cohorts often run in intensive weekend blocks or over several months, and many studios want you practicing regularly there first. Third, cost and payment plans, and whether tuition includes an unlimited membership for the training period. Teacher training is a real commitment of time and money, so it's worth a call or an info session before you enroll.
Your first hot yoga class at Common Thread Yoga and Wellness
Nervous about your first hot class? Almost everyone is, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: the room is heated, so it feels intense for the first few minutes — rest in child's pose any time you need to, no one will bat an eye. Hydrate: drink water through the day before class, not just as you arrive, and bring a bottle. What to bring: a mat and towel, water, and a change of clothes; wear something light you don't mind sweating through, and skip a heavy meal in the couple of hours beforehand. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and set up. It gets easier fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
