I joined the downtown Dragonfly Hot Yoga studio in October of 2015 as a student and I'm hooked. I was fairly new to yoga (I've participated in some free classes or deals from another local studio in the past, but never had a membership) and my main concern was being in an accepting, positive and helpful environment.
I began going to Dragonfly Hot Yoga studio in the fall. I had been to many different yoga studios and yoga classes before and I never really loved it or understood how so many people loved it. I decided to take advantage of the $40 unlimited first month, which began may immense appreciation for yoga.
Awesome heated yoga studio and an excellent experience. The upstairs studio was spacious with a view overlooking State Street. It was immaculately clean, which immediately sets the tone.
I enjoyed the welcoming lobby area with tea, snacks, and workout gear. I also liked the lockers and cubbies to store your belongings while in class, and the cleanliness of the studio in general. Lastly, I found the Barre class to be well-taught, challenging, and a great addition to my current workout routine!
Your first hot yoga class at Dragonfly Hot Yoga
Nervous about your first hot class? Almost everyone is, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: the room is heated, so it feels intense for the first few minutes — rest in child's pose any time you need to, no one will bat an eye. Hydrate: drink water through the day before class, not just as you arrive, and bring a bottle. What to bring: a mat and towel, water, and a change of clothes; wear something light you don't mind sweating through, and skip a heavy meal in the couple of hours beforehand. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and set up. It gets easier fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
