Yoga 626, a new spot for hot yoga, and more. Visited for the 3rd time (?) today. Was not feeling my best and still had a great Original Hot 90 class with Ryan J. I thought the studio name was a play on the Bikram based 26&2 series, but no, it is the street address. lol.
Spacious clean studio with great class options. I started with yoga, but have been loving Joanna's inferno hot pilates - every class is different and the monthly challenges are great motivators (I learned I could hold a plank for over 6 minutes in January thanks to Joanna's plank challenge!).
LOVE LOVE LOVE The Inferno Hot Pilates class with Joanna. It always leaves me feeling both energized and accomplished. Be prepared to challenge yourself mentally and physically, but the results are totally worth it. As Joanna always tells us….”if it’s burning, it’s transforming”!!!
I LOVE yoga 626. I joined in September and have enjoyed yoga, yoga sculpt and IHP. The space is really clean and all the instructors are fantastic. I have seen a big improvement in my overall heath body and mind. Strongly suggest anyone looking to start yoga or Pilates to check it out.
Teacher training at YOGA 626
YOGA 626 comes up for teacher training — confirmed on their own site. If you're thinking about becoming an instructor, a few things are worth asking up front. First, which certification the program leads to — most hot-yoga trainings are Yoga Alliance registered (RYT-200 or RYT-500), and the style matters: a Bikram or hot-power lineage trains differently than a hot-vinyasa or sculpt one. Second, the schedule and prerequisites — cohorts often run in intensive weekend blocks or over several months, and many studios want you practicing regularly there first. Third, cost and payment plans, and whether tuition includes an unlimited membership for the training period. Teacher training is a real commitment of time and money, so it's worth a call or an info session before you enroll.
Your first hot yoga class at YOGA 626
Nervous about your first hot class? Almost everyone is, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: the room is heated, so it feels intense for the first few minutes — rest in child's pose any time you need to, no one will bat an eye. Hydrate: drink water through the day before class, not just as you arrive, and bring a bottle. What to bring: a mat and towel, water, and a change of clothes; wear something light you don't mind sweating through, and skip a heavy meal in the couple of hours beforehand. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and set up. It gets easier fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
