From the reviews
My husband and I found Unity Yoga Room when the YMCA closed in Mt. Juliet a few years back. We had tried another yoga room and the "Y" at Donelson, but really wanted something more local. The very first class that we both took was a restorative class where we each gave a donation.
I came to Unity Yoga Room last year and feel like I never left. They offer a variety of classes to choose from daily that always feel calming and challenging at the same time, as well as weekly workshops I enjoy going to if i want to experience something a little different.
I can't say enough good things about Unity Yoga Studio. This place is more than just a yoga studio; it's a genuine community. From the moment you walk in, you feel a sense of warmth and belonging. The space itself is beautiful, and has a truly calming energy. What truly sets Unity apart are the teachers.
I have been taking yoga for roughly 15 years and I can say there has never been a studio that has made me feel as welcome as Unity Yoga Room. I know it sounds cheesy but it is so true, I went to another studio (out of state) for almost 6 years straight and never knew a single person in my classes and instructors never…
Teacher training at Unity Yoga Room
Unity Yoga Room comes up for teacher training — confirmed on their own site. If you're thinking about becoming an instructor, a few things are worth asking up front. First, which certification the program leads to — most hot-yoga trainings are Yoga Alliance registered (RYT-200 or RYT-500), and the style matters: a Bikram or hot-power lineage trains differently than a hot-vinyasa or sculpt one. Second, the schedule and prerequisites — cohorts often run in intensive weekend blocks or over several months, and many studios want you practicing regularly there first. Third, cost and payment plans, and whether tuition includes an unlimited membership for the training period. Teacher training is a real commitment of time and money, so it's worth a call or an info session before you enroll.
Your first hot yoga class at Unity Yoga Room
Nervous about your first hot class? Almost everyone is, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: the room is heated, so it feels intense for the first few minutes — rest in child's pose any time you need to, no one will bat an eye. Hydrate: drink water through the day before class, not just as you arrive, and bring a bottle. What to bring: a mat and towel, water, and a change of clothes; wear something light you don't mind sweating through, and skip a heavy meal in the couple of hours beforehand. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and set up. It gets easier fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
