From the reviews
I just stared practicing again, and was fortunate that a friend introduced me to this fabulous studio. Updog Studios offers a variety of classes including hot power yoga, restorative yoga as well as workshop events that are fun and challenging. The studio is beautiful and impeccably clean.
Inviting, warm, chic, relaxing...these are just a few words that come to mind to describe this beautiful studio in the heart of Towson. The owner, Susan, has done such a wonderful job of creating a studio environment that makes you feel welcomed and nourished from the moment you walk in.
Susan has been a premier yoga instructor in the greater Baltimore area for years and I am thrilled she has now grown to open her own studio. The space she has created is beautiful and tranquil.
Updog Studios is the best yoga studio I have ever been to! I have been practicing at various studios in Baltimore for over 15 years and Updog Studios is by far the best. Amazing yoga, beautiful studio, great playlists, impeccably clean and wonderful people. But what truly sets Updog apart is Susan herself.
Teacher training at Updog Studios
Updog Studios comes up for teacher training — confirmed on their own site. If you're thinking about becoming an instructor, a few things are worth asking up front. First, which certification the program leads to — most hot-yoga trainings are Yoga Alliance registered (RYT-200 or RYT-500), and the style matters: a Bikram or hot-power lineage trains differently than a hot-vinyasa or sculpt one. Second, the schedule and prerequisites — cohorts often run in intensive weekend blocks or over several months, and many studios want you practicing regularly there first. Third, cost and payment plans, and whether tuition includes an unlimited membership for the training period. Teacher training is a real commitment of time and money, so it's worth a call or an info session before you enroll.
Your first hot yoga class at Updog Studios
Nervous about your first hot class? Almost everyone is, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: the room is heated, so it feels intense for the first few minutes — rest in child's pose any time you need to, no one will bat an eye. Hydrate: drink water through the day before class, not just as you arrive, and bring a bottle. What to bring: a mat and towel, water, and a change of clothes; wear something light you don't mind sweating through, and skip a heavy meal in the couple of hours beforehand. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and set up. It gets easier fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
