From the reviews

It's awesome having such a wonderful yoga studio in the area. Every single instructor I've had a chance to work with so far has been knowledgeable and personable. My favorite so far is Taq, whose class is challenging, yet easy to follow for all levels. And they're always full of personality!

I kept hearing “East Harlem needs to do better”. We have a food desert. We definitely have a health and wellness desert! Correction .. HAD a health and wellness desert. Ofrenda Yoga Studio, is now the OASIS in East Harlem.

I never enjoyed yoga because I thought it was too slow paced for me. But after taking Jazmin’s and Alicia’s classes, I'm now a huge fan! I look forward to my Monday night sessions with Alicia as her classes help me reset and prepare for the week ahead.

⸻ I’ve been to Ofrenda Yoga a few times, but I recently discovered they offer a free community class on Fridays at 11am for newly certified teachers, and I highly recommend checking it out. Lara led the class I took, and her flow was incredibly intentional. Everything just made sense.

Your first hot yoga class at Ofrenda Yoga Studio

Nervous about your first hot class? Almost everyone is, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: the room is heated to around ~90°F, so it feels intense for the first few minutes — rest in child's pose any time you need to, no one will bat an eye. Hydrate: drink water through the day before class, not just as you arrive, and bring a bottle. What to bring: a mat and towel, water, and a change of clothes — there are showers on site; wear something light you don't mind sweating through, and skip a heavy meal in the couple of hours beforehand. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and set up. It gets easier fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.

Heat and intense exercise aren't right for everyone — if you're pregnant or have heart, blood-pressure, or other health concerns, check with a doctor before your first hot class.
